Nutriq

Privacy policy

Nutriq is a nutrition and training app. This policy explains what data we collect, why, who we share it with and your rights. It applies to the Nutriq app for Android and iOS and to this website.

Who is responsible

The data controller is the Nutriq team. For any privacy question, write to ricardogouveiacantador@gmail.com.

What we collect

Account: name, email and password (stored only as a hash), or your Google or Apple account identifier if you sign in with them.

Profile: sex, date of birth, height, weight, activity level, goal and calculated targets, profile photo (optional), language and time zone.

Health and food: the meals you log (photos, text, foods, amounts and nutrition values), water, weigh-ins, allergies, intolerances and foods you avoid, and the health notes you write (injuries, pain or conditions).

Activity: workouts and activities you log and, if you connect them, data from Health Connect, Apple Health, Strava or Withings (workouts, steps, weight).

Chat with Calu (Plus plan): the messages you exchange with the assistant.

Subscription: your plan and renewal dates. We never see or store card details: payment is handled by Google Play or the App Store.

Technical data: error and usage logs (for example, how many analyses you ran today), to keep the app running and prevent abuse.

Why we use it

To provide the service you ask for: analysing meals, calculating targets and totals, generating plans, giving tips and answering in the assistant. The legal basis is the performance of our contract with you and, for health data, your explicit consent, which you give by using these features and can withdraw by deleting the data or your account.

We do not use your data for advertising, we do not sell it and we do not build profiles for third parties.

Who we share it with

Anthropic (Claude AI models): receives the photo or text of a meal for analysis and, in the assistant, your question with a summary of your data. Data sent through the API is not used to train models.

RevenueCat, Google Play and the App Store: to manage your subscription. They receive an internal account identifier, not your health data.

Strava, Withings, Health Connect and Apple Health: only if you connect them, and only to bring your data into the app.

Hosting: data is stored on our servers, with a hosting provider contracted for that purpose.

Friends, groups and professionals: friends and members of your groups only see your name, photo, streak and % of goal (never your weight). If you join a nutritionist's or trainer's group, you agree that they can see your diary, goals, weight, workouts and reports. You can leave at any time and access ends immediately.

We may also disclose data where required by law.

How long we keep it

For as long as you have an account. In the app you can choose not to keep meal photos, or to delete them after confirming a meal. When you delete your account, all your data is deleted immediately; backups are overwritten within 30 days.

Security

Connections are encrypted (HTTPS), passwords are hashed and access tokens for connected accounts (Strava, Withings) are encrypted. Each person can only access their own data, including in the assistant.

Your rights

You can access, correct, export or delete your data, object to processing or withdraw consent. Most of this can be done in the app (Me → Profile and Me → Delete account); for anything else write to ricardogouveiacantador@gmail.com. We reply within 30 days.

If you think your data was mishandled, you can complain to the Portuguese data protection authority (www.cnpd.pt) or the authority in your country.

Age

Nutriq is meant for people aged 16 or over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.

Health notice

Nutriq gives estimates and general guidance. It is not a medical device and does not replace a doctor or dietitian.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date below and, for important changes, let you know in the app.
